Take Care Academy is your place for support and encouragement.

From One
Caregiver
to Another.
You are not alone.
As the creator of Take Care Academy, I'm on a mission to support caregivers in new and innovative ways.
We deserve a modern, open and honest conversation about what it really takes to serve as a family caregiver. The bandages and bruises. The worry and the joy. The wins and losses.
Over the past 15 years, I've been both patient and caregiver. My quiet expedition to regain my health allowed me to step into the role of caregiver when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Even so, I didn't truly know what to expect when I became a caregiver.
After successfully taking care of my mother through chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and subsequent regaining of her health, I knew I wanted to help others navigate personal challenges around their own well-being. I built a coaching practice with a global client list. I work with clients across the world from across every socioeconomic, class, gender, and age range.
Clients share that the tools in my sessions have helped them repair relationships, understand themselves better, reduce conflict, eliminate guilt, and allow them to move forward with happier, healthier lives.
Take Care Academy brings this work to caregivers, and is the building block for caregivers, no matter where you are in the process -- seasoned veteran or new to the role. You'll find resources you didn't even know you needed - from healing modules, and courses to one-on-one coaching that help caregivers navigate their roles with more ease, compassion, and resilience.

Why
Care
Coaching?
Because there isn't a manual on how to cope with the caregiving (but I'm writing one!)
Because the discourse around care is still in the shadows, making us more vulnerable.
Because most of the advice is from institutions written by the corporate communications team -- not carers or coaches.
Because it is the most human thing you'll ever experience, but NO ONE IS TALKING about the intense experience.
Because caregiver burnout is real, painful, and put carers (the majority whom are women) behind emotionally and economically.
Because I am a professional coach and can help change how we all care - for our patients, but most importantly ourselves.
For too long, caregivers have been expected to give everything, but at the same time vanish. Vanish in to the background, in to the illness, the patient, the process of healing. And most of us aren't given any training, nor any tangible ways not to lose ourselves to the enormous task of caring for a loved one.
Through coaching, classes and community we bring a new version of caregiving to the table. No matter where you are in the caregiving experience, we are here to help lighten the burden and offer a road-map for care, while a caregiver.
Caregivers deserve understanding, support and strategies as we embark on one of the hardest -- and most human -- experiences in life. In order to bring our best and preserve our own well being, we need a place for conversation, community and connection.
