CARE COACHING
IS FOR YOU

If you've ever said..

No one prepared me for taking care of my parent during a life-threatening illness. What am I even doing? Is there a handbook for what to expect -- when you are a caregiver?

Or felt....

I'm losing my sense of self. I don't have time to decompress or center myself. I'm happy to be of service to the people I love, but I'm not sure who I am any more, besides a caregiver.

Or wondered....

How am I going to balance everything in my life? Between kids, job and caregiving, I feel so lonely. Is anyone else going through this as well? Am I the only one who can't balance it all?

WHAT IS CARE COACHING?

Caring for a family member or loved one during a prolonged illness is an all-encompassing endeavor. It can also be lonely and depleting, no matter how much you care about "your person."

Take Care Academy was created to directly support caregivers. Our one-on-one coaching sessions have been developed to support your mental health, guide you forward, and generally offer a soft place to land whenever you need a boost. We make space to put down the weight of today's emotional heavy lifting.

Blending professional coaching techniques and personal experience, we help you navigate one of life's most unexpected — and least discussed — challenges.

FROM ONE CAREGIVER TO ANOTHER

YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

As the creator of Take Care Academy, I'm on a mission to change the conversation around caregiving.

Caregivers are almost 54 Million strong in the US alone, yet our stories and supports are minimal. Most of us are thrust into the position due to a shocking, life-altering diagnosis. We start from a place of love and dedication and end up in a place of confusion and isolation.

I became a caregiver before my 40th birthday. My mom was two months from retirement.
We had planned Paris and parties.

What we got was chemo and cancer.

No-one expects to become a caregiver. And sadly, this is one of the few conversations that is still taboo.

So much guilt. So much hiding. So much fear. (Seriously, what else is so high-stakes? Not much.)
Family caregiving is the perfect storm for burnout.

"What the heck did I get myself into?"
"I love her so much, but I have no idea how to care for her over a long period of time!"
"I'm losing myself."

All comments I've heard. Said. And felt very deeply.
Sound familiar?

We deserve a modern, open and honest conversation about what it really takes to serve as a family caregiver. The bandages and bruises. The worry and the joy. The wins and losses.

I've been patient and caregiver. After bringing my mom through chemo, surgery, radiation and the subsequent renewal of her health, I knew I wanted to help other caregivers. I became a professional coach, and for the last several years have worked with nearly a thousand clients across the globe.

Clients share that my practice helped them form stronger relationships, tackle hard conversations, build resilience and avoid burnout.

Take Care Academy brings this work to caregivers, and is the building block for a modern caretakers conversation. Our coaching, guided journals, healing modules, and courses help caregivers navigate their new role with more ease, compassion, and resilience.

Take Care Academy is on a bold mission to:

  • change the conversation about care;

  • provide care coaching with real-life, empowered, actionable advice;

  • show up for carers to offer support and encouragement;

  • create a public space for caregivers;

  • celebrate and support caregivers (& patients!);

  • and re-frame the role and experience of caregiving.

We are modernizing caretaking and making space for caregivers.

I hope you'll join the movement.
